Plot Synopsis

When Kate falls asleep and misses the last train from London, panic sets in as she realises that she's locked in the underground station. She is somewhat relieved, then, when a train finally appears at the platform. Relief, however, soon turns to complete and utter terror...

Effective horror movie, with equal doses of suspense and gore – it falls apart towards the end but it’s worth seeing, thanks to the combination of the setting, a witty script and Potente’s unusual heroine.

Creep is the debut feature by British writer/director Christopher Smith and if its premise of Something Nasty On The Underground seems at all familiar, that’s probably because you’re lucky enough to have seen Dead Line (aka Raw Meat), a 1972 cult horror movie starring Donald Pleasance as a reactionary cop on the trail of, well, Something Nasty On The Underground. Dead Line is a definite (and unacknowledged) influence on Smith’s film and Creep has its moments, despite falling apart towards the end.

Unseen Menace Pursues Drunken German

German actress Franka Potente (from Run, Lola, Run) stars as Kate, a party girl who is, frankly, a bit of a ~censored~. Opting to take the last tube home she falls asleep at Charing Cross station and wakes up to find that she’s missed the last tube and that the station is both locked up and deserted. Or so she thinks: when a would-be rapist meets his end in a particularly gory fashion, she realises that an unseen menace is intent on picking off anyone it can find.

It would be a bit of a dull horror movie without any other victims, so after a blackly amusing exchange with an office-bound tube Jobsworth, Kate seeks refuge with a young homeless couple (Paul Rattray and Kelly Scott) before eventually teaming up with imprisoned sewage worker Vas Blackwood and attempting to discover exactly what the ‘Creep’ is. Before it kills them.

The performances are good, particularly Potente, who avoids scream queen clichés by making her character surprisingly unlikeable – Kate is rude and arrogant in her early scenes and the fact that she’s German is, of course, a coincidence.

Ice Queen (2005)

While transporting a unique female species from the Pleistocene Age, a.k.a. Ice Age, a military convoy is attacked and the sample is abducted. The creature called "Ice Queen" should be conserved in cryogenic state, otherwise she would wake-up very aggressively, but the apparatus in the plane where Dr. Goddard airborne the species has a problem, the creature is warmed, awakes and kills the mercenary pilot. The airplane crashes and slides with the snow avalanche that was provoked in the mountains, falling over and burying a resort, trapping a group of survivors with the Ice Queen inside. Naschy also wrote the script under his real name, Jacinto Molina, and the film spearheaded him to genre superstardom, as we would continue to star in, write, and later direct movies of this type. Though having nothing to do with Mary Shelley’s monstrous creation, it was released in the U.S. as FRANKENSTEIN’S BLOODY TERROR with a new prologue and the running time trimmed, but was a success at the drive-ins nonetheless. This is the first time the film has been available here on home video, and Shriek Show/Media Blasters have put together a pretty spectacular package for this long-awaited DVD. FRANKENSTEIN’S BLOODY TERROR is really the starting point for Spanish horror, as the genre hardly existed before its production. Naschy was not originally meant to play the lead role here, but luckily he did when the producers coaxed him into it, and the rest is history. His script owes a lot to the Universal horrors of yesteryear, and even the British horrors of Hammer, with a fairytale attitude and a nice mix of classic monsters. Sometimes confusing, and at times showing its low budget, the film is nonetheless a colorful, comic book-styled slice of gothic cinema that’s quite entertaining and well shot in widescreen, with some truly striking lighting, putting most modern horror films to shame in terms of appearance. It’s interesting to note that the film was set in the time it was made, despite having the rich look of a period piece, with the castle interiors and woodsy exteriors bringing the production value up a great deal. When the film was released in the U.S. in the early 70s, Sam Sherman of Independent International (the Stateside distributor) removed about 15 minutes from the beginning of the English-dubbed version he obtained the rights to, which was known as “Hell Creatures.” An animated prologue explaining that the famous family of monster-makers had been cursed as werewolves was added, and it was now called FRANKENSTEIN’S BLOODY TERROR. Some purists think this opening is blasphemous, while others hold it as momentous ballyhoo. That opening is still present on this DVD release, and the footage once removed for theatrical showings has now been restored, bringing the running time up to about 91 minutes. Media Blasters presents FRANKENSTEIN’S BLOODY TERROR on DVD in its original 2.35:1 aspect ratio with anamorphic enhancement. The transfer was taken from different print elements, and although it’s far from perfect, it’s satisfactory overall, and it’s nice to finally see the American version more restored and receiving an official home video release. The image is clean for the most part, with only a few print blemishes. Colors are nicely saturated, never being too bold or striking, yet sometimes they are inconsistent and look a bit faded. Picture detail is fairly sharp throughout, with most of the nighttime scenes looking appropriate, but occasionally the picture is soft. The English-dubbed mono audio is well rendered, with music being vigorous, and dialogue coming through nicely and only a bit low in some scenes

While walking through the forest, the girls find a magical mirror. As they clean the mirror and sing,

Diamond Castle, which is the home of all music, and where three musical muses once resided until one evil muse,
Lydia, tried to take the castle for herself.

In an act of safekeeping the other two muses entrusted the key of the Diamond Castle to Melody.

In 1994, Italian journalist Enza Massa was at the Italian National Library in Rome when she stumbled upon an unusual find. It was a manuscript dating to 1629, titled: Nostradamus Vatinicia Code. Michel de Notredame, the author's name, was on the inside in indelible ink. This manuscript, never published by Nostradamus, was handed down to the prophet's son and later donated by him to Pope Urban VIII. It did not surface again until now, almost four hundred years later.

The cryptic paintings vary from the strange to the bizarre, with images of popes,decapitations and strange creatures. Known as the "Vaticinia Nostradami",this book has often been considered to be Nostradamus' final propheciesregarding the end of the world as we know it. It was said that Nostradamushad handed the book over to his son who in turn was to donate it to a cardinalat the time who later went on to become Pope Urban VIII; the book eventuallyended up in the library.In both the paintings and the accompanying quatrains within, Nostradamus is saidto have predicted the Nazi Blitzkrieg, the assassination attempt on Pope JohnPaul II, the burning of the oil wells of Kuwait by Iraq, and Boris Yeltsin'srise to power.

Some of the paintings reveal new prophecies, while others are eithergenerally indecipherable or linked to earlier quatrains, but not indicated. Among the paintings are a Pope with the body of a dog, female priests, clergymenbeing attacked and a black-skinned pope. Following are original imagesfrom the Nostradamus Vatinicia.

This film tells an emotional tale about a pair of fathers - an adopted father and a birth father - who risk all to save their ailing daughter from losing her life. Though one is a cop and the other a convicted murderer, the two share a fatal bond through the little girl.
